Mission
The mission of The Cumberland Presbyterian is to disseminate the news of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church to promote its faith, programs, and activities, and to provide fair and open discussion of theological and denominational issues.
CP UPDATES is a web-based news service designed to inform about events, activities, and happenings in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church between issues of the magazine. CP UPDATES replaces This Week which was published 40 times a year for fifteen years.
In order to reduce dependency on OUR UNITED OUTREACH, the Cumberland Presbyterian Publication Board (CPPB) is developing new endowments and adding opportunities of giving to ensure the continuing voice of the Church into the future.
Patron of Publications
$100 Contribution
Contributions of $100.00 to the CPPB may be designated to recognize a Patron of Publications. Individuals or groups may confer this honor on persons who serve the church with dedication and commitment. This honor may be conferred posthumously.
Communicator of the Year
$50.00 contribution
Contributions of $50.00 to the CPPB may be designated to recognize a Communicator of the Year. Individuals or groups may confer this honor on persons who serve the church as a communicator helping the church stay informed in a variety of ways.
Established Endowments
KY CURRIE PUBLISHING FUND
established in 1980 by the Winchester CPC, the Owens Chapel CPC, The Cumberland Presbyterian, and the Board of Finance to honor the Reverend Ky Currie who served as editor for the period of 1938-1948.
MARGUERITE D. RICHARDS ENDOWMENT
initiated in 1998 coming as the remainder of an annuity designated for endowment for The Cumberland Presbyterian.
C. RAY DOBBINS ENDOWMENT
established in 2000 to honor the Reverend Dr. C. Ray Dobbins, who served as Editor of The Cumberland Presbyterian for 35 years.
MASAHARU ASAYAMA/ C P WOMEN’S MINISTRY ENDOWMENT
established in 2003 by the Cumberland Presbyterian Women’s Ministries out of gratitude for the service and devotion to the Cumberland Presbyterian Church demonstrated by the Reverend Masaharu Asayama who was the first Moderator of the General Assembly to be elected from overseas. This endowment will help educate and nurture clergy and laity in our global church for their specific ministries and will encourage the revitalization and establishment of churches throughout the world. It will work to unify the global church for ministry as Cumberland Presbyterians.
PAT WHITE ENDOWMENT established in 2006 to honor Editor Pat White in appreciation for the direction she and the Publication Board have taken to educate and inform subscribers of The Cumberland Presbyterian.
